Daily Qur'an & Hadith 01 May 2015 (11 Rajab 1436)

English Translation of Al-Quran

 [38].Surah Suad

Ayat 48. And remember Ismail PBUH (Ishmael), AlYasa'a PBUH (Elisha), and Dhul-Kifl PBUH (Isaiah), all are among the best.

Ayat 49. This is a Reminder, and verily, for the Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons) is a good final return (Paradise), -,

Ayat 50. 'Adn (Edn) Paradise (everlasting Gardens), whose doors will be open for them, that one can speak to the doors, just one tells it to open and close, and it will open or close as it is ordered].

Ayat 51. Therein they will recline; therein they will call for fruits in abundance and drinks;

Ayat 52. And beside them will be chaste females (virgins) restraining their glances only for their husbands, (and) of equal ages.

Ayat 53. This it is what you (Al-Muttaqun - the pious) are promised for the Day of Reckoning!

Tafseer of Surah Suad Ayat 48. Ismail PBUH, the Patriarch of the Arab race, was also mentioned (37:101-107) as a pattern of self-sacrifice, now he is mentioned in the company of the Good, i.e., of those who were a blessing to their people. Here he is bracketed with Elisha PBUH (for whom see 6:86), and Dhu al Kifl PBUH (for whom see 21:85). All these three were examples of constancy and patience under suffering. Some of the pre-eminent examples of the Elect and the Good having been mentioned, we have now a reference to the Righteous as a body (rank and file as well as leaders) and their future in the Hereafter as won by victory over Evil. 50. Gardens of Eternity, whose doors will (ever) be open to them; The Final bliss will not be a hole-and-corner thing, a pale reflection of some Palace or Retreat, where mystery reigns behind closed doors. Its doors will be open, and its inmates will be free to go in and out as they will, because their wills will be purified and brought into accord with the Universal Law. 51. Therein will they recline (at ease): Therein can they call (at pleasure) for fruit in abundance, and (delicious) drink; See 36:57. The free Gardens are types of satisfaction in external surroundings: the comfortable reclining thrones, the fruit and the drink are types of the soul's individual satisfaction; and the society of pure-minded companions, of equal ages, in the type of a soul's social satisfaction, 52. And beside them will be chaste women restraining their glances, (companions) of equal age. Cf. 37:48, and 36:56. As we conceive happiness in this life, it is not complete if it is only solitary. How we hanker after someone who can share in our highest joy! That feeling is also figured here. To make the metaphor of social happiness complete, we want companionship of equal age. Age and youth cannot be happy together. It is not suggested that in the Timeless state figured here, there will be old age; but if it is possible to conceive of temperamental differences men, the company will be so arranged that it will be congenial. Or we can accept the type of youth and freshness as common to all in that happy state. 53. Such is the Promise made, to you for the Day of Account!

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said,  "Allah, the Exalted, has said: `I have prepared for my righteous slaves what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and the mind of no man has conceived.' If you wish, recite: `No person knows what is kept hidden for them of joy as a reward for what they used to do.''' (32:17)

[Al-Bukhari Vol. 6, Chapter 60, Hadith # 302].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah As-Suad Ayat 49. "verily, for the Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons) is a good final return (Paradise)". About the gifts and pleasures of Jannah, here a Hadith has been stated in the Words of Allah. The subject matter is confirmed from the Verse of the Qur'an given in the text of the Hadith.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 30 April 2015 (10 Rajab 1436)

English Translation of Al-Quran

 [38].Surah Suad

Ayat 45. And remember Allah's obedient servants, Ibrahim PBUH (Abraham), Ishaque PBUH (Isaac), and Yaqub PBUH (Jacob), (all) owners of strength (in worshipping Us) and (also) of religious understanding.

Ayat 46. Verily, Allah did choose them by granting them (a good thing, i.e.) the remembrance of the home [in the Hereafter and they used to make the people remember it, and also they used to invite the people to obey Allah and to do good deeds for the Hereafter].

Ayat 47. And they were close to Allah, verily, of the chosen and the best!

Tafseer of Surah Suad Ayat 45. And commemorate Allah's Servants Abraham PBUH, Isaac PBUH, and Jacob PBUH, possessors of Power and Vision. In the last Surah (37:83-113), Abraham PBUH and Isaac PBUH (and by implication Jacob PBUH and his Son Yusuf PBUH) were mentioned as resisting Evil and winning through. Here they are mentioned as men with spiritual power and vision, Israelite patriarchs, who bore witness to the Gospel of the Hereafter, and were therefore a blessing to their people, for they taught the Truth. 46. Verily Allah did choose them for a special (purpose)- proclaiming the Message of the Hereafter. 47. They were, in Allah's sight, truly, of the company of the Elect and the Good.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: It was asked, "O Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH)! Who is the most honorable amongst mankind?'' He  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "The most honorable of them is one who is the most pious of them.'' They said, "We are not asking about this". He said, "Then, the most honorable of men was Yusuf [PBUH] (Joseph), the Prophet of Allah, the son of Allah's Prophet, who was the son of the Prophet of Allah, who was the son of the Khalil of Allah (i.e., Ibrahim (PBUH))' They said, "We are not asking you about this.'' He enquired, "Are you then asking me about the classes of the Arabs? The best of them in the Pre-Islamic Period of Ignorance are the best of them in Islam, provided they comprehend the religious knowledge".

[Al-Bukhari Book 05, Chapter 55, Hadith # 572]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah As-Suad Ayat 45. And remember Allah's obedient servants" We come to know from this Hadith that the families which enjoyed popularity and prestige for their eminent qualities (like generosity, chivalry, honesty, etc.) in the pre-Islamic period were also credited for these values after their acceptance of Islam. But now their respect was qualified with their religious knowledge and practice. Their capabilities, self-respect and other qualities were turned towards a different direction. These qualities which were previously used for paganism were now devoted for Islam.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 29 April 2015 (09 Rajab 1436)

English Translation of Al-Quran

 [38].Surah Suad

Ayat 44. "(O Ayub PBUH (Job) break not your oath and take in your hand a bundle of thin grass and strike therewith (your wife). Truly! Allah found him patient. How excellent (a) servant! Verily, he was ever oft-returning in repentance (to Allah)!

Tafseer of Surah Suad Ayat 44. "In his worst distress Job PBUH (Ayub) was patient and constant in faith, but apparently his wife was not. According to the book of Job (2:9-10), "Then said his wife unto him, dost thou still retain the integrity? Curse God, and die. But he said unto her, thou she speaks as one of the foolish women speak. What? Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips." He must have said in his haste to the woman that he would beat her: he is asked now to correct her with only a wisp of grass, to show that he was gentle and humble as well as patient and constant. Cf. 38:30 above, where similar words are spoken of Solomon. Patience and constancy are also a form of service, if our attitude is due to an active faith in Allah, and not mere passivity. So Milton in his Sonnet: "They also serve who only stand and wait."

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said to Ashaj Abdul-Qais (May Allah be pleased with him), "You possess two qualities that Allah loves. These are clemency and tolerance.''

[Muslim Book 01, Chapter 07, Hadith # 024]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah As-Suad Ayat 44. Truly! Allah found him patient. How excellent (a) servant! Verily, he was ever oft-returning in repentance (to Allah)!

"This Hadith teaches us to adopt a patient, mild and discreet attitude towards others. Moreover, there is a provision for praising somebody in his presence, provided there is no likelihood of his being conceited. The Hadith also provides inspiration for the cultivation of good habits.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 28 April 2015 (08 Rajab 1436)

English Translation of Al-Quran

 [38].Surah Suad

Ayat 43. And Allah gave him (back) his family, and along with them the like thereof, as a Mercy from Allah, and a Reminder for those who understand.

Tafseer of Surah Suad Ayat 43. And Allah gave him (back) his people, and doubled their number, - as a Grace from Ourselves, and a thing for commemoration, for all who have Understanding. Cf. 21:84, Job PBUH (Ayub) was a prosperous man, with faith in Allah, living somewhere in the northeast corner of Arabia. He suffers from a number of calamities; his cattle are destroyed, his servants slain by the sword, and his family crushed under his roof. But he holds fast to his faith in Allah. As a further calamity he is covered with loathsome sores from head to foot. He loses his peace of mind, and he curses the day he was born. His false friends come and attribute his affliction to sin. These "Job's comforters" are no comforters at all, and he further loses his balance of mind, but Allah recalls to him all His mercies, and he resumes his humility and gives up self-justification. He is restored to prosperity, with twice as much as he had before; his brethren and friends come back to him; he had a new family of seven sons and three fair daughters. He lived to a good old age, and saw four generations of descendants. All this is recorded in the Book of Job in the Old Testament. Of all the Hebrew writings, the Hebrew of this Book comes nearest to Arabic. The account given in the Biblical sources and the image that it projects of Prophet Job is decidedly different from that found in the Qur'an and the Hadith, which present him as a prophet and a brilliant example of dignified patience becoming of a great Prophet of Allah ever trustful in Him and His promises. Nothing could be further from the truth than saying that he lost his peace of mind or resorted to curses during the period of his trial.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Musa Al-Ashari (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH)said, "A person will be summoned with the one whom he loves". [Al-Bukhari Book 08, Chapter 73, Hadith # 191].

Another narration is: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) was asked; "What about a person who loves a people but cannot be with them?'' (i.e., either he cannot attain their lofty position of righteousness or that he has not met with them in this life). The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) replied, "A person will be in the company of those whom he loves".

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah As-Suad Ayat 43. "Reminder for those who understand" Besides bringing to eminence the high merit of entertaining the love for the pious persons, this Hadith tells us about the Mercy and Blessings of Allah which He will shower upon those who love the pious people. Because of this love, Allah will elevate even the inferior people and include them among those whom He loves. This Hadith also serves a warning that association and love with the impious people is extremely dangerous as one can meet the same bad end which is inevitable for them. May Allah save us from it.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 27 April 2015 (07 Rajab 1436)

English Translation of Al-Quran

 [38].Surah Suad

Ayat 41. And remember Allah's obedient servant Ayub PBUH (Job), when he invoked his Lord (saying): "Verily! Shaitan (Satan) has touched me with distress (by losing my health) and torment (by losing my wealth)!

Ayat 42. (Allah said to him): "Strike the ground with your foot: This is a spring of water to wash in, cool and a (refreshing) drink."

Tafseer of Surah Suad Ayat 41. Commemorate Our Servant Job PBUH Behold he cried to his Lord: "The Evil One has afflicted me with distress and suffering!" For this passage, verses 41-44, Cf. 21:83-84. The distress was of many kinds, physical, mental, and spiritual. Cf. 21:83. He suffered from loathsome sores he lost his home, his possessions, and his family; and almost his balance of mind. But he did not lose Faith but turned to Allah (see verse 44 this Surah), and the recuperative process began.

42. (The command was given) "Strike with thy foot: here is (water) wherein to wash, cool and refreshing, and (water) to drink." The recuperative process having begun, he was commanded to strike the earth or a rock with his foot, and a fountain or fountains gushed forth—to give him a bath and clean his body, to refresh his spirits, and to give him drink and rest. This is a fresh touch, not mentioned in S. 21 or in the Book of Job, but adding beautifully to our realization of the picture.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) said: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "If anyone constantly seeks pardon (from Allah), Allah will appoint for him a way out of every distress and a relief from every anxiety, and will provide sustenance for him from where he expects not.''

[Abu Dawud Hadith # 1518].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah As-Suad Ayat 41. And remember Allah's obedient servant Ayub PBUH (Job), when he invoked his Lord"

And in Surah Al-Anbiya Ayat 83."(Remember) Ayub PBUH (Job), when he cried to his Lord and seeks pardon" By seeking forgiveness, a relationship with Allah is established between man and his Creator. So seeking forgiveness is a very good act. Allah likes those people who, after committing a sin, do not stick to it, but right away seek forgiveness for their sins from Allah. They weep and express sorrow before Allah.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 26 April 2015 (06 Rajab 1436)

English Translation of Al-Quran

 [38].Surah Suad

Ayat 36. So, Allah subjected to him the wind, it blew gently to his order whithersoever he willed,

Ayat 37. And also the Shayatin (devils) from the jinns (including) every kind of builder and diver,

Ayat 38. And also others bound in fetters.

Ayat 39. [Saying of Allah to Sulaiman PBUH (Solomon)]: "This is Allah's gift, so spend you or withhold, no account will be asked."

Ayat 40. And verily, he enjoyed a near access to Allah, and a good final return (Paradise).

Tafseer of Surah Suad Ayat 36. Then Allah subjected the Wind to his power, to flow gently to his order, Whithersoever he willed, Cf. 21:81. Ayat 37. As also the evil ones, (including) every kind of builder and diver, Cf. 21:82. Cf. also 34:12-13 and notes there: in the latter passage the spirits mentioned are called Jinns. The divers were probably those employed in pearl fisheries.38. As also others bound together in fetters. Cf. 14:49. Where the same expression "bound together in fetters" is applied to Sinners on the Day of Judgment. 39. "Such are Our Bounties: whether thou bestow them (on others) or withhold them, no account will be asked." Allah bestowed such abundant powers and bounties on Solomon that they could not be counted or measured: and he was free to give away anything he liked or keep anything he liked. In this was great temptation for an ordinary man. Solomon as a prophet withstood it and asked to be forgiven for power and such a kingdom as others might not be able to use lawfully. His earthly kingdom went to pieces after his death. But his name and fame endure. And what is more, he obtained a place among the Nearest Ones to Allah. See next verse. 40. And he enjoyed, indeed, a Near Approach to Us, and a beautiful Place of (Final) Return. The same words are used of David in 38:25 above, thus symmetrically closing the argument about the two greatest kings in Israel.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said,  "Seven people Allah will give them His Shade on the Day when there would be no shade but the Shade of His Throne (i.e., on the Day of Resurrection): And they are: a just ruler; a youth who grew up with the worship of Allah; a person whose heart is attached to the mosques, two men who love and meet each other and depart from each other for the sake of Allah; a man whom an extremely beautiful woman seduces (for illicit relation), but he (rejects this offer and) says: `I fear Allah'; a man who gives in charity and conceals it (to such an extent) that the left hand does not know what the right has given; and a man who remembers Allah in solitude and his eyes become tearful".

[Al-Bukhari Book 08, Chapter 82, Hadith # 798].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah As-Suad Ayat 40. "Verily, he enjoyed a near access to Allah, and a good final return (Paradise).  This Hadith highlights the merits of weeping for fear of Allah. The fear of Allah keeps one away from disobedience of Allah, the reward of which in the Hereafter is Jannah - a world which abounds in the Bounties and Pleasure of Allah.
