Daily Qur'an & Hadith 01 Aug 2014 (04 Shawwal 1435)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[31].Surah Luqman [Luqman]

Ayat 20. See you not (O men) that Allah has subjected for you whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth, and has completed and perfected His Graces upon you, (both) apparent (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, and the lawful pleasures of this world, including health, good looks, etc.) and hidden [i.e. One's Faith in Allah (of Islamic Monotheism) knowledge, wisdom, guidance for doing righteous deeds, and also the pleasures and delights of the Hereafter in Paradise, etc.]? Yet of mankind is he who disputes about Allah without knowledge or guidance or a Book giving light!

Tafseer of Surah Luqman Ayat 20. Do ye not see that Allah has subjected to your (use) all things in the heavens and on earth, and has made his bounties flow to you in exceeding measure, (both) seen and unseen? Yet there are among men those who dispute about Allah, without knowledge and without guidance, and without a Book to enlighten them! Allah's Creation is independent of man. But Allah, in His infinite mercy, has given man the faculty to subdue the forces of nature and to penetrate through high mysteries with his powers of reason and insight. But this is not merely a question of power. For in His Universal Plan, all are safeguarded. But man's destiny, as far as we can see, is noble to the highest degree (Cf. 45:13). Allah's grace and bounties work for us at all times. Sometimes we see them, and sometimes we do not In things which we can apprehend with our senses, we can see Allah's grace, but even in them, sometimes it works beyond the sphere of our knowledge. In the inner or spiritual world, sometimes, when our vision is clear, we can see it working, and often we are not conscious of it, but it works all the same. Such men lack knowledge, as they make no use of their intellects but are swayed by their passions; they lack guidance, as they are impatient of control; and the fruits of revelation, or spiritual insight, do not reach them, as they reject Faith and Revelation.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Umar bin Al-Khattab (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Verily, Allah elevates some people with this Qur'an and abases others.''

[Muslim Book 04, Chapter 138, Hadith # 1780]

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Luqman Ayat 20. "Yet of mankind is he who disputes about Allah without knowledge or guidance or a Book giving light" Only such people will be elevated who act upon the teachings of the Qur'an and abstain from what is forbidden by Allah. The Muslims of the early centuries of Islam were blessed with great honour by Allah because they loved and applied the Qur'an. Because of this meaningful attachment with the Qur'an, they made great achievements in religious and worldly spheres. Those who neglected the teachings of Islam will be disgraced and humiliated. May Allah guide and enable us to re-establish our contact with the Qur'an so that we can regain our past glory. Exaltation and humiliation mentioned in the Hadith is bound to happen in both this life and the Hereafter.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 31 July 2014 (03 Shawwal 1435)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[31].Surah Luqman [Luqman]

Ayat 18. . (Hazrat Luqman said to his son when he was advising him O my son!) "And turn not your face away from men with pride, nor walk in insolence through the earth. Verily, Allah likes not each arrogant boaster.

Ayat 19. "And be moderate (or show no insolence) in your walking, and lower your voice. Verily, the harshest of all voices is the voice (braying) of the ass."

Tafseer of Surah Luqman Ayat 18 and 19. "And swell not thy cheek (for pride) at men, nor walk in insolence through the earth; for Allah loves not any arrogant boaster. The word "cheek" in English, too, means arrogance or effrontery, with a slightly different shade added, viz.: effrontery from one in an inferior position to one in a superior position. The Arabic usage is wider, and includes smug self satisfaction and a sense of lofty superiority. Ayat 19. "And be moderate in thy pace, and lower thy voice; for the harshest of sounds without doubt is the braying of the ass." The "Golden Mean" is the pivot of the philosophy of Luqman as it is the philosophy of Aristotle and indeed of Islam. And it flows naturally from a true understanding of our relation to Allah and His universe and to our fellow creatures, especially man. In all things be moderate. Do not go the pace, and, do not stand stationary or slow. Do not be talkative and do not be silent. Do not be loud and do not be timid or half-hearted. Do not be too confident, and do not be cowed down. If you have patience, it is to give you constancy and determination that you may bravely carry on the struggle of life. If you have humility, it is to save you from unseemly swagger, not to curb your right spirit and your reasoned determination.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Harithah bin Wahab (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) saying, "Shall I not inform you about the people of Jannah? It is every person who is, modest and humble (before Allah), a person who is accounted weak and is looked down upon but if he adjures Allah, Allah will certainly give him what he desires. Now shall I not inform you about the inmates of Hell? It is every violent, impertinent and proud man".

[Al-Bukhari Book 06, Chapter 60, Hadith # 440].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Luqman Ayat 18. "O my son!) "And turn not your face away from men with pride" This Hadith tells us about distinction of such weak, poor and secluded persons who do not have any important position in society but are so eminent in the realm of piety that, out of their utmost trust in Allah, if they take an oath for something, Almighty Allah fulfills their oath. Thus, this Hadith highlights the importance of modesty and condemns pride, miserliness and lust for name and fame.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 30 July 2014 (02 Shawwal 1435)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[31].Surah Luqman [Luqman]

Ayat 17. (Hazrat Luqman said to his son when he was advising him) "O my son! Aqimis Salat (perform AsSalat), enjoin (people) for Al-Maruf (Islamic Monotheism and all that is good), and forbid (people) from Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief in the Oneness of Allah, polytheism of all kinds and all that is evil and bad), and bear with patience whatever befall you. Verily! These are some of the important commandments ordered by Allah with no exemption.

Tafseer of Surah Luqman Ayat 17. Hazrat Luqman further advising to his son said "O my son! establish regular prayer, enjoin what is just, and forbid what is wrong: and bear with patient constancy whatever betide thee; for this is firmness (of purpose) in (the conduct of) affairs.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Buraidah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "That which differentiates us from the disbelievers and hypocrites is our performance of Salat. He who abandons it, becomes a disbeliever.''

[At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2621]

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Luqman Ayat 17. "(Hazrat Luqman said to his son when he was advising him) "O my son! Aqimis Salat (perform AsSalat)" This Hadith makes the importance of Salat in Islam abundantly clear. The opinion of the Companions of the Prophet  [SAWW](PBUH) was based on the information contained in the Ahadith which have been mentioned above. They did not take the Ahadith which interpreted the leaving of Salat as Kufr mere scolding or reproof. They considered slackness and negligence in Salat as Kufr and apostasy and regarded Salat a symbol of Islam.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 29 July 2014 (01 Shawwal 1435).

English Translation of Al-Quran

[31].Surah Luqman [Luqman]

Ayat 16. (Hazrat Luqman said to his son when he was advising him) "O my son! If it be (anything) equal to the weight of a grain of mustard seed, and though it be in a rock, or in the heavens or in the earth, Allah will bring it forth. Verily, Allah is Subtle (in bringing out that grain), Well Aware (of its place).

Tafseer of Surah Luqman Ayat 16. "O my son!" (said

Luqman), "If there be (but) the weight of a mustard-seed and it were (hidden) in a rock, or (anywhere) in the heavens or on earth, Allah will bring it forth: for Allah understands the finest mysteries, (and) is well acquainted (with them). Verses 14-15 are not the direct speech of Luqman but flow by way of commentary on his teaching. He was speaking as a father to his son, and he could not very well urge respect for himself and draw the son's attention to the limitations of that obedience. These verses may be supposed to be general directions flowing from Luqman's teaching to men, and not directed to his son, though in either case, as Luqman received wisdom from Allah, it is divine principles that are enunciated. The mustard seed is proverbially a small, minute thing that people may ordinarily pass by. Not so Allah. Further emphasis is laid by supposing the mustard seed to be hidden beneath a rock or in the cleft of a rock, or to be lost in the spaciousness of the earth or the heavens. To Allah everything is known, and He will bring it forth; i.e., take account of it. For Latif as a title applied to Allah, 22:63.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Ayyub (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "He who observes As-Saum (the fasts) in the month of Ramadan, and also observes As-Saum for six days in the month of Shawwal, it is as if he has observed As-Saum for the whole year.''

[Muslim Book 06, Chapter 36, Hadith # 2614].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Luqman Ayat 53."Verily, Allah knows well what you do" According to the formula that there is at least ten-fold reward for every virtue, the Saum of one month (Ramadan) are equivalent to Saum of ten months. If one also observes six days of Saum of Shawwal, they will be equal to Saum of two months. Thus, one becomes eligible for the reward of one full years' Saum. He who makes it a permanent feature is like one who observes Saum throughout his life. He will be considered by Allah as one who observes Saum permanently. Although voluntary in nature, they are highly important. One can observe these six-day Saum at a stretch or with intervals, but their observance one after the other at the beginning of the month is better. Similarly, if a person has missed some Saum of Ramadan due to illness, travelling etc., he should first make up the shortfall and then observe the voluntary six-day Saum of Shawwal.

Marriage And First Night Method In Islam

Sunday, July 27, 2014

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 28 July 2014 (29 Ramadan 1435)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[31].Surah Luqman [Luqman]

Ayat 15. But if they (both) strive with you to make you join in worship with Me others that of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not, but behave with them in the world kindly, and follow the path of him who turns to Me in repentance and in obedience. Then to Me will be your return, and I shall tell you what you used to do.

Tafseer of Surah Luqman Ayat 15. "But if they strive to make thee join in worship with Me things of which thou hast no knowledge, obey them not; yet bear them company in this life with justice (and consideration), and follow the way of those who turn to me (in love): in the end the return of you all is to Me, and I will tell you the truth (and meaning) (of all that ye did." Where the duty to man conflicts with the duty to Allah, it means that there is something wrong with the human will, and we should obey Allah rather than man. But even here, it does not mean that we should be arrogant or insolent. To parents and those in authority, we must be kind, considerate, and courteous, even where they command things which we should not do and therefore disobedience becomes our highest duty. The worship of things other than Allah is the worship of false things, things which are alien to our true knowledge, things that go against our own pure nature as created by Allah. In any apparent conflict of duties our standard should be Allah's Will, as declared to us by His command. That is the way of those who love Allah and their motive in disobedience to parents or human authority where disobedience is necessary by Allah's Law, is not self-willed rebellion or defiance, but love of Allah, which means the true love of man in the highest sense of the word. And the reason we should give is, "Both you and I have to return to Allah: therefore not only must I follow Allah's Will, but you must command nothing against Allah's will." These conflicts may appear to us strange and puzzling in this life. But in Allah's Presence we shall see their real meaning and significance. It may be that that was one way in which our true mettle could be tested: for it is not easy to disobey and love man at the same time.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Anas bin Malik (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) never proceeded (for the prayer) on the Day of 'Id-ul-Fitr unless he had eaten some dates. Hazrat Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) also narrated: The Prophet  [SAWW](PBUH) used to eat odd number of dates.

[Al-Bukhari Volume 2, Book 15, Number 73].

Lesson : We learn from this Hadith "The wisdom behind eating before the Eid prayers (Salah) is so that no person doubts that fasting remains until after the Salah. So it is as if The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) wanted to stop this from occurring."

We implore Allah, the Most High, to make the approaching Eid a moment of blessing for everyone. May this Eid bring peace and prosperity globally. Indeed, Eid is the day of blessings and great reward by Almighty Allah for good observance of fasting and Salah, thus we need to express our gratitude to Allah, Who has enabled us to observe virtues deed and, at the same time, granted us abundant provision during this blessed month.

Wishing you and your family a very happy Eid-Ul-Fitr !

May The Guidance of Allah Subhanahu Watala Be With You & Your Family!

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 27 July 2014 (28 Ramadan 1435)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[31].Surah Luqman [Luqman]

Ayat 14. And Allah have enjoined on man (to be dutiful and good) to his parents. His mother bore him in weakness and hardship upon weakness and hardship, and his weaning is in two years give thanks to Me and to your parents, unto Me is the final destination.

Tafseer of Surah Luqman Ayat 14. And We have enjoined on man (to be good) to his parents: in travail upon travail did his mother bear him, and in years twain was his weaning: (hear the command), "Show gratitude to Me and to thy parents: to Me is (thy final) Goal. The set of milk teeth in a human child is completed at the age of two years, which is therefore the natural extreme limit for breast-feeding. In our artificial life the duration is much less ( Cf. 2:233).

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said,  Hazrat Ibn Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) enjoined the payment of one Sa' of dates or one Sa' of barley as Zakat-ul-Fitr on every Muslim slave or free, male or female, young or old, and he ordered that it be paid before the people went out to offer the Eid prayer. (One Sa' = 3 Kilograms approx.)

[Al-Bukhari Volume 2, Book 25, Number 579]

The Purpose of Zakat-ul-Fitr

Every Muslim is required to pay Zakat-ul-Fitr at the conclusion of the month of Ramadan as a token of thankfulness to Allah (SWT) for having enabled him to observe fasts. Its purpose is to purify those who fast from any indecent act or speech and to help the poor and needy. In addition, it provides for the needs of the poor and the indigent and relieves them from having to ask others for charity on the day of `Eid. The Prophet,  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Fulfill their need on this day (i.e., the day of Eid).

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 26 July 2014 (27 Ramadan 1435)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[31].Surah Luqman [Luqman]

Ayat 13. And (remember) when Luqman said to his son when he was advising him: "O my son! Join not in worship others with Allah. Verily! Joining others in worship with Allah is a great Zulm (wrong) indeed.

Tafseer of Surah Luqman Ayat 13. Behold, Luqman said to his son by way of instruction: "O my son! join not in worship (others) with Allah. for false worship is indeed the highest wrong-doing." Luqman is held up as a pattern of wisdom, because he realized the best in a wise life in this world, as based upon the highest Hope in the inner life. To him, as in Islam, true human wisdom is also divine wisdom; the two cannot be separated. The beginning of all wisdom, therefore, is conformity with the Will of Allah (31:12). That means that we must understand our relations to Him and worship Him aright (31:13). Then we must be good to mankind, beginning with our own parents (31:14). For the two duties are not diverse, but one. Where they appear to conflict, there is something wrong with the human will the duty to man conflicts with the duty to Allah, it means that there is something wrong with the human will, and we should obey Allah rather than man.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Allah the Exalted and Majestic said: `Every act of the son of Adam is for him, except As-Siyam (the fasting) which is (exclusively) for Me, and I will reward him for it.' Fasting is a shield. When anyone of you is observing fast, he should neither indulge in obscene language nor should he raise his voice; and if anyone reviles him or tries to quarrel with him, he should say: `I am fasting.' By Him in Whose Hand the soul of Muhammad  [SAWW] is, the breath of one observing Saum is sweeter to Allah than the fragrance of musk. The one who fasts, experiences two joys: he feels pleasure when he breaks the fast. He is joyful by virtue of his fast when he meets his Rubb.''

[Al-Bukhari Book 03, Chapter 31, Hadith # 128].

Lesson : "Khuluf'', is the smell that comes from the mouth of person who observes Saum. It results from the thirst and hunger which he has to suffer during the Saum. The Hadith not only tells us the merits of Saum but also brings into focus the true significance of it. Saum is not thus mere abstention from food, drink and sexual intercourse, but also keeping away from all evils and vices and embracing virtues.
