Daily Qur'an & Hadith 11 Nov 2015 (28 Muharram 1437)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[42]. Surah Ash-Shura [The Consultation]

Ayat 28. And Allah it is Who sends down the rain after they have despaired, and spreads abroad His Mercy. And He is the Wali (Helper, Supporter, Protector, etc.), Worthy of all Praise.

Tafseer of Surah Al Shura (Consultation) Ayat 28. He is the One that sends down rain (even) after (men) have given up all hope, and scatters His Mercy (far and wide). And He is the Protector, Worthy of all Praise. That men should get such a blessing as rain when they expect it according to ordinary calculations of probabilities does not impress them, as it is a daily occurrence. But Allah's mercy is more than this. It comes to our aid even when all hope is lost, and gives us new chances and new openings where we least expect them. His quality of cherishing and protecting His creatures is always active, and what higher praise can we give?

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Said Al-Khudri and Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "If a person says: `La ilaha illallahu wallahu Akbar (There is no true god except Allah and Allah is Greatest)', his Rubb responds to him and affirms: `(Yes!) There is no true god except I, and I am the Greatest.' When he says: `La ilaha illallahu Wahdahu la sharika Lahu (There is no true god except Allah, the One, He has no partner).' Allah (SWT) affirms: `(Yes!) There is no true god except I. I have no partner.' When he says: `La ilaha illallahu Lahul mulku wa Lahul-hamdu (the sovereignty belongs to Him and all the praise is due to Him).' He (SWT) affirms: `(Yes!) There is no true god except I, Mine is the praise and to Me belongs the sovereignty.' When he says: `La ilaha illallahu wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa Billah (There is no true god except Allah, and there is no might and power but with Allah).' He (SWT) affirms: `(Yes!) There is no true god except I, and there is no might and power but with Me.''' The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) added, "He who recites this during his illness and dies, will not be touched by the Fire (Hell).''

[At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 3430].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 28. "And He is the Wali (Helper, Supporter, Protector, etc.), Worthy of all Praise" There is always a great certainty that Allah will respond to a supplication which springs from a sincere, veracious heart. One should, therefore, pray for a patient with full conviction and reassurance of heart. Moreover, the Prophet's prayers have special effect and grace and therefore their original wordings should be uttered.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 10 Nov 2015 (27 Muharram 1437)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[42]. Surah Ash-Shura [The Consultation]

Ayat 27. And if Allah were to enlarge the provision for His servants, they would surely rebel in the earth, but He sends down by measure as He wills. Verily! He is in respect of His slaves, the Well-Aware, the All-Seer (of things that benefit them).

Tafseer of Surah Al Shura (Consultation) Ayat 27. If Allah were to enlarge the provision for His Servants, they would indeed transgress beyond all bounds through the earth; but he sends (it) down in due measure as He pleases. For He is with His Servants Well-acquainted, Watchful. It may be objected that all prayers, even of good people, are not answered. The reply is: (1) that even everyone who is good does not necessarily know what is best for him, for the values in this life are curiously distorted; and (2) on account of their want of knowledge, if everyone got all he asked for, there would be chaos and confusion, and "transgression beyond bounds through the earth", for the different interests are so intermingled and balanced that some measure must be observed in granting people's wishes. This measure is best supplied by the watchful care of Allah and His perfect knowledge of all our real needs. As He pleases is here almost equivalent to as He thinks best.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Dharr Jandab bin Junadah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Allah, the Exalted, and Glorious, said; 'O My slaves, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and jinn of you to be as pious as the most pious heart of any man of you, that would not increase My domain a thing. O My slaves, were the first of you, and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to be as wicked as the most wicked heart of any man of you, that would not decrease My domain in a thing.''.

[Muslim Book 032, Chapter 13, Hadith # 6246].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 27." they would surely rebel in the earth" This Hadith mentions the Power and Majesty of Allah and stresses that one should supplicate Allah for everything that one needs. From guidance to sustenance, the treasures of everything are with Him - the treasures which are unlimited and any withdrawal from them does not make any reduction in them. Similar is the case of His Sovereignty; it is not affected even if the whole universe supports or opposes them. Thus, it is in the interest of man that he should dedicate himself entirely to Allah and beg all his needs from Him and Him Alone.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 09 Nov 2015 (26 Muharram 1437)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[42]. Surah Ash-Shura [The Consultation]

Ayat 26. And Allah answers (the invocation of) those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and gives them increase of His Bounty. And as for the disbelievers, theirs will be a severe torment.

Tafseer of Surah Al Shura (Consultation) Ayat 26. And He listens to those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, and gives them increase of His Bounty: but for the Unbelievers there is a terrible Penalty. To the prayers of the righteous He listens, and He gives them of His Bounty beyond their deserts. Every time they do a little good, they are increased in their goodness. Every right impulse or aspiration is strengthened and leads to progressive spiritual advancement.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said: "Glorify your Lord in Ruku` (bowing posture) and exert yourself in supplication in prostration. Thus your supplications are liable to be accepted.''

[Muslim Book 004, Chapter 37, Hadith # 970].

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "A slave becomes nearest to his Rubb when he is in prostration. So increase supplications while prostrating.''

[Muslim Book 004, Chapter 37, Hadith # 979]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 26. And Allah answers (the invocation of) those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, Both the Ahadith mentioned above, evidently show that there is greater possibility of acceptance of an invocation which is made in prostration. Therefore, one must do it in the voluntary Salat.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 08 Nov 2015 (25 Muharram 1437)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[42]. Surah Ash-Shura [The Consultation]

Ayat 25. And Allah it is Who accepts repentance from His slaves, and forgives sins, and He knows what you do.

Tafseer of Surah Al Shura (Consultation) Ayat 25. He is the One that accepts repentance from His Servants and forgives sins: and He knows all that ye do. Whatever the sin. Allah's Mercy is open to sincere Repentance, at all times, until the decree of condemnation issues.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Musa (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Allah, the Exalted, will continue to stretch out His Hand in the night so that the sinners of the day may repent, and continue to stretch His Hand in the daytime so that the sinners of the night may repent, until the sun rises from the west".

[Muslim Book 05, Chapter 037, Hadith # 6644].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 25. And Allah it is Who accepts repentance from His slaves, and forgives sins, and He knows what you do" This Hadith confirms an essential Attribute of Allah, i.e., the Hand which He stretches out anytime He wishes without drawing similarity to it, nor interpretation. Such was the attitude of the pious predecessors with regards to all of the essential Attributes of Allah. It is deduced from this Hadith that if one commits a sin during any hour of day or night, he should immediately seek the forgiveness of Allah as a result.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 07 Nov 2015 (24 Muharram 1437)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[42]. Surah Ash-Shura [The Consultation]

Ayat 24. Or say they: "He Prophet  [SAWW](PBUH) has invented a lie against Allah?" If Allah willed, He could have sealed heart (so that forget all that you know of the Qur'an). And Allah wipes out falsehood, and establishes the truth (Islam) by His Word (this Qur'an). Verily, He knows well what (the secrets) are in the breasts (of mankind).

Tafseer of Surah Al Shura (Consultation) Ayat 24. If anyone has a doubt about a prophet's mission, let him look at the prophet's life, at his work, at his character. Allah loves Truth, not Falsehood. Allah's aid goes with Truth, not with Falsehood. The beauty and power of Allah's Word cannot be found in Falsehood. The false man's heart would be sealed, not expanded to new heights, as is that of the Message-bearer of Allah.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Ibn Masood (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Truth leads to piety and piety leads to Jannah. A man persists in speaking the truth till he is enrolled with Allah as a truthful. Falsehood leads to vice and vice leads to the Fire (Hell), and a person persists on telling lies until he is enrolled as a liar".'

[Muslim Book 32, Chapter 26, Hadith # 6306].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 24. Or say they: "He Prophet  [SAWW](PBUH) has invented a lie against Allah?" If Allah willed, He could have sealed heart" Siddiq (veracious) and Kadhdhab (liar) both are adjectives of intensive degree. That is to say, the words stand respectively for someone whose truth has become his second nature; and in the opposite case, one is a liar who is in the habit of telling lies. As one acquires a reputation in this world for his good or bad deeds similar is his position before Allah. One who is ranked among the truthful with Him is entitled to reward, and if one is a liar, he has to suffer retribution for it. This Hadith provides incentive for truthfulness because it is a source of every good deed and contains a warning against lying as it gives rise to all kinds of mischief.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 06 Nov 2015 (23 Muharram 1437)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[42]. Surah Ash-Shura [The Consultation]

Ayat 23. That is (the Paradise) whereof Allah gives glad tidings to His slaves who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds. Say (O Muhammad  [SAWW](PBUH) "No reward do I ask of you for this except to be kind to me for my kinship with you." And whoever earns a good righteous deed, We shall give him an increase of good in respect thereof. Verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Ready to appreciate (the deeds of those who are obedient to Him).

Tafseer of Surah Al Shura (Consultation) Ayat 23. That is (the Bounty) whereof Allah gives Glad Tidings to His Servants who believe and do righteous deeds. Say: "No reward do I ask of you for this except the love of those near of kin." And if any one earns any good, We shall give him an increase of good in respect thereof: for Allah is Oft Forgiving, Most Ready to appreciate (service). Heaven may be pictured to our minds in various forms. This is one of the highest, and Allah announces it freely to the righteous. No sort of tangible reward does the man of God ask for proclaiming the Glad Tidings of Allah. But at least he has the right to ask that his kith and kin should not persecute him and put all sorts of obstacles in his way, as did the Quraysh against the Prophet. The love of kindred may be extended to mean the love of our common humanity, for all mankind are brothers descended from Adam. Everyone can understand the ordinary love of kindred. (R). Cf. 35:29-30, and notes 3915 (for increase) (for Allah's appreciation of service).

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Masud Al-Badri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: We were sitting in the company of Saad bin Ubadah (May Allah be pleased with him), when the Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) came to us. Bashir bin Saad said: "O Messenger of Allah! Allah has commanded us to supplicate for you, but how should we do that?'' The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) kept silent. We were much perturbed over his silence and we wished he did not asked him this question. The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Say: `O Allah, exalt the mention of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as you exalted the family of Ibrahim. And bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as You blessed the family of Ibrahim. You are the Praised, the Glorified,' and the method of greeting (i.e., Salam) is as you know.''

[Muslim Book 04, Chapter 15, Hadith # 803]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 23. "Say (O Muhammad  [SAWW](PBUH) "No reward do I ask of you for this except to be kind to me for my kinship with you." In this Hadith, the Prophet  (PBUH) has showed us that the manner of offering Salam was the same as the one mentioned in the previous Hadith. "Al'' means the wives of the Prophet (PBUH) and those of his relatives who were from Banu Hashim and Banu `Abdul-Muttalib and had embraced Islam. Some scholars are of the opinion that it is general and applies to all his followers. This Hadith also teaches us that if one does not have knowledge of a religious matter, he must seek guidance from the knowledgeable scholars of Islam about it, rather than going by his opinion. Knowledgeable persons (scholars) here means persons who are well-versed in the Qur'an and Hadith and can answer questions in the light of them, and not from the sayings of others or from their own intelligence.
