[Sahih Muslim: Book 039 'Kitab Sifat Al-Qiyamah wa'l Janna wa'n-Nar', Number 6754]
Jabir
(Radi Allah Anhu) reported: I heard Allah's Messenger (way peace be upon him) as saying: The throne of Iblis is upon the ocean and he sends detachments (to different parts) inorder to put people to trial and the most important figure in his eyes is one who is most notorious in sowing the seed of dissension.

[Sahih Muslim: Book 039 'Kitab Sifat Al-Qiyamah wa'l Janna wa'n-Nar', Number 6755]
Jabir
(Radi Allah Anhu) reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: Iblis places his throne upon water; he then sends detachments (for creating dissension) ; the nearer to him in tank are those who are most notorious in creating dissension. One of them comes and says: I did so and so. And he says: You have done nothing. Then one amongst them comes and says: I did not spare so and so until I sowed the seed of discord between a husband and a wife. The Satan goes near him and says: 'You have done well. A'mash said: He then embraces him.

[Sahih Muslim: Book 039 'Kitab Sifat Al-Qiyamah wa'l Janna wa'n-Nar', Number 6756]
Jabir
(Radi Allah Anhu) reported that Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) said: The Satan sends detachments of his own in order to put people to trial and the highest in rank, in his eyes, is one who is most notorious in sowing the seed of dissension.

Fwd: Daily Qur'an & Hadith 26 Feb 2014 (25 Rabi'ul Thani 1435)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[28].Surah Al-Qasas [The Narration]

Ayat 39. And he and his hosts were arrogant in the land, without right, and they thought that they would never return to Us.

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas (The Narration) Ayat 39. And he was arrogant and insolent in the land, beyond reason, - He and his hosts: they thought that they would not have to return to Us! They did not believe in the Hereafter. They did not understand that every deed must have its inevitable consequence, good, or evil, unless the Grace of Allah intervenes to save us from ourselves!

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Harithah bin Wahab’ (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) saying, "Shall I not inform you about the people of Jannah? It is every person who is, modest and humble (before Allah), a person who is accounted weak and is looked down upon but if he adjures Allah, Allah will certainly give him what he desires. Now shall I not inform you about the inmates of Hell? It is every violent, impertinent and proud man".

[Al-Bukhari Book 06, Chapter 60, Hadith # 440].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qasas Ayat 39. “he and his hosts were arrogant in the land” This Hadith tells us about distinction of such weak, poor and secluded persons who do not have any important position in society but are so eminent in the realm of piety that, out of their utmost trust in Allah, if they take an oath for something, Almighty Allah fulfills their oath. Thus, this Hadith highlights the importance of modesty and condemns pride, miserliness and lust for name and fame.
