Daily Qur'an & Hadith 01 Sep 2015 (16 Ziqa'ad 1436)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 77. So be patient (O Muhammad  [SAWW](PBUH), verily, the Promise of Allah is true, and whether Allah show you (O Muhammad  [SAWW](PBUH) in this world) some part of what Allah have promised them, or Allah cause you to die, then it is to Us they all shall be returned.

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) 77. So persevere in patience; for the Promise of Allah is true: and whether We show thee (in this life) some part of what We promise them, - or We take thy soul (to Our Mercy) (before that),-(in any case) it is to Us that they shall (all) return. Cf. 10:46. As the eventual justice and readjustment of values must take place, when every soul returns to the Judgment Seat of Allah, it makes no difference if good and evil meet their deserts in this very life or not. Cf. also 13:40.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said,  "Do you know who is the bankrupt?'' They said: "The bankrupt among us is one who has neither money with him nor any property". He said, "The real bankrupt of my Ummah would be he who would come on the Day of Resurrection with Salat, Saum and Sadaqah (charity), (but he will find himself bankrupt on that day as he will have exhausted the good deeds) because he reviled others, brought calumny against others, unlawfully devoured the wealth of others, shed the blood of others and beat others; so his good deeds would be credited to the account of those (who suffered at his hand). If his good deeds fall short to clear the account, their sins would be entered in his account and he would be thrown in the (Hell) Fire".

[Muslim Book 32, Chapter 13, Hadith # 6251]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 77. "verily, the Promise of Allah is true, and whether Allah show you (O Muhammad  [SAWW](PBUH) in this world) some part of what Allah have promised them"  This Hadith tells us that a Muslim has to take strict care in the performance of obligations like prescribed Salat (prayers), Zakat, etc., but he has to take similar care in his dealings, manners and morals. Salvation lies in the proper fulfillment of all these requirements. Fulfillment of one at the cost of the other will not be sufficient for salvation.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 31 August 2015 (15 Ziqa'ad 1436)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 75. That was because you had been exulting in the earth without any right (by worshipping others instead of Allah and by committing crimes), and that you used to rejoice extremely (in your error).

Ayat 76. Enter the gates of Hell to abide therein, and (indeed) what an evil abode of the arrogant!

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) 75 and 76. "That was because ye were wont to rejoice on the earth in things other than the Truth, and that ye were wont to be insolent. Allah does not withdraw His grace from any unless (1) they actively and deliberately take a delight in things that are vain or false, and (2) they insolently reject the things that are true-in other words, unless men are deliberately false to their own lights, as illuminated by the Light of Allah. Ayat 76. "Enter ye the gates of Hell, to dwell therein: and evil is (this) abode of the arrogant!" Cf. 39:72.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said,  "On the Day of Resurrection, there will be brought forth a bulky person whose value to Allah will be less than that of the wing of a mosquito".

[Al-Bukhari Book 06, Chapter 60, Hadith # 253].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat.76 "and (indeed) what an evil abode of the arrogant!"  This Hadith means that manifestation of power and splendor, which are considered so important for people in this world, will be of no value to Allah. In the Hereafter, Allah will judge a person by his Faith, devotion and piety. It is, therefore, essential that one should concentrate on the reformation of his own heart and mind.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 30 August 2015 (14 Ziqa'ad 1436)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 73. Then it will be said to them: "Where are (all) those whom you used to join in worship as partners.

Ayat 74."Besides Allah" They will say: "They have vanished from us: Nay, we did not invoke (worship) anything before." Thus Allah leads astray the disbelievers.

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) 73. Then shall it be said to them: "Where are the (deities) to which ye gave part- worship. Ayat 74. "In derogation of Allah." They will reply: "They have left us in the lurch: Nay, we invoked not, of old, anything (that had real existence)." Thus does Allah leave the Unbelievers to stray. All falsehood will vanish: Cf. 7:37. The only Reality will be fully manifest even to those to whom Evil was made to seem alluring in the lower life. They will feel in their inmost souls that they had been pursuing mere shadows, things of no real existence. This was the result of their rejecting the Light and the Grace of Allah: they got entangled in the mazes of error.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Saeed Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "There will emerge from the East some people who will recite the Qur'an but it will not exceed their throats and who will go out of (renounce) the religion (Islam) as an arrow passes through the game, and they will never come back to it unless the arrow, comes back to the middle of the bow (by itself) (i.e., impossible). The people asked, "What will their signs be?" He  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Their sign will be the habit of shaving (of their beards).

[Al-Bukhari Chapter 093, Hadith # 651]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 74. "Thus Allah leads astray the disbelievers"! Only such people will be elevated who act upon the teachings of the Qur'an and abstain from what is forbidden by Allah. The Muslims of the early centuries of Islam were blessed with great honor by Allah because they loved and applied the Qur'an. Because of this meaningful attachment with the Qur'an, they made great achievements in religious and worldly spheres. Those who neglected the teachings of Islam will be disgraced and humiliated. May Allah guide and enable us to re-establish our contact with the Qur'an so that we can regain our past glory. Exaltation and humiliation mentioned in the Hadith is bound to happen in both this life and the Hereafter.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 29 August 2015 (12 Ziqa'ad 1436)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 69. See you not those who dispute about the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah? How are they turning away (from the truth, i.e. Islamic Monotheism to the falsehood of polytheism)?

Ayat 70. Those who deny the Book (this Qur'an), and that with which Allah sent Our Messengers (i.e. to worship none but Allah Alone sincerely, and to reject all false deities and to confess resurrection after the death for recompense) they will come to know (when they will be cast into the Fire of Hell).

Ayat 71. When iron collars will be rounded over their necks, and the chains, they shall be dragged along.

Ayat 72. In the boiling water, then they will be burned in the Fire.

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) 69 to 72. Sees thou not those that dispute concerning the Sings of Allah. How are they turned away (from Reality)? Those who dispute about the Signs of Allah which are clear to all who care to see, are merely in the mists of Unreality: Cf. 10:32. Ayat 70. Those who reject the Book and the (revelations) with which We sent our messengers: but soon shall they know, "The Book" may refer to the Holy Qur'an or to the fundamental Revelation, the "Mother of the Book" (13:39 ), while the Books revealed to the messengers are the definite Revelations that came down to men from time to time. Ayat 71. When the yokes (shall be) round their necks, and the chains; they shall be dragged along. The rejection of Allah's Message, however brought, carries its own penalty. The yoke of spiritual slavery to Sin and Evil is fastened more and more firmly round the rejecter's neck, because there is no one to safeguard his freedom, and the chains of superstitions and the ugly consequences of evil restrict his freedom and the limited faculty of choice which was given by Allah to man. This process receives its climax at the Hour of Judgment. Ayat 72. In the boiling fetid fluid; then in the Fire shall they be burned; The sinner gets dragged further and further in the disgusting consequences of his evil actions, until the fire of destruction closes in upon him.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abdullah bin Masud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "When the Children of Israel became sinful, their learned men prohibited them but they would not turn back. Yet, the learned men associated with them and ate and drank with them. So, they were cursed at the tongues of Dawud and `Isa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), because they were disobedient and were given to transgression.'' At this stage Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) who was reclining on a pillow sat up and said, "No, By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, there is no escape for you but you persuade them to act justly.''

[At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 3047 & 3048].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 70. Those who deny the Book (this Qur'an), and that with which Allah sent Our Messengers" This Hadith tells us that the duty of `Ulama' is to check the people from vice and if, in spite of all their efforts people do not abandon them, they should avoid associating with them because it is a matter of religious reverence and vanity. If they do not do it, they will also be cursed like the disobedient lot. May Allah save us from this negligence.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 28 August 2015 (11 Ziqa'ad 1436)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 68. Allah it is Who gives life and causes death. And when He decides upon a thing He says to it only: "Be!" and it is.

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) 68. It is He Who gives Life and Death; and when He decides upon an affair, He says to it, "Be", and it is. The keys of life and death are in Allah's hands. But He is not dependent on time or place or instruments or materials. All that He has to do is to say "Be", and it comes into existence. Cf. 16:40, and 36:82. Conversely, His Will or Command is sufficient to annihilate Existence into Non-Existence (Life into Death) or determine the limits or conditions of Existence or Non-Existence.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Ubadah bin As-Samit (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: We swore allegiance to Messenger of Allah  SAWW (PBUH) to hear and obey; in time of difficulty and in prosperity, in hardship and in ease, to endure being discriminated against and not to dispute about rule with those in power, except in case of evident infidelity regarding which there is a proof from Allah. We swore allegiance to Messenger of Allah  SAWW (PBUH) to say what was right wherever we were, and not to fear from anyone's reproached.

[Muslim Volume 020, Book 08, Hadith # 4541].

Lesson: It has been emphasized in this Hadith that even if a Muslim ruler is sinful and cruel, one should not disobey him unless he orders to go against the Divine injunctions. In that case, such rulers should not be obeyed. Similarly, it is not permissible to revolt against them until they commit clear-cut infidelity because there is a greater danger of loss in revolt and rebellion. It should be noted once and for all that the expressions of truth and compliance with religious injunctions have top priority on all occasions. This should be done regardless of what people say on this account.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 27 August 2015 (11 Ziqa'ad 1436)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 67. Allah, it is Who has created you (Adam) from dust, then from a Nutfah [mixed semen drops of male and female discharge (i.e. Adam's offspring)] then from a clot (a piece of coagulated blood), then brings you forth as children, then (makes you grow) to reach the age of full strength, and afterwards to be old (men and women), though some among you die before, and that you reach an appointed term, in order that you may understand.

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) 67. It is He Who has created you from dust then from a sperm-drop, then from a leech-like clot; then does he get you out (into the light) as a child: then lets you (grow and) reach your age of full strength; then lets you become old, though of you there are some who die before; - and lets you reach a Term appointed; in order that ye may learn wisdom. Cf. this passage with 22:5. The various stages of man's physical life are: (!) first, simple matter (dust); (2) the sperm-drop in the father; (3) the fertilized ovum in the mother's womb; (4) out into the light, as a human child; (5) youth and full maturity; (6) decay; and (7) death. In some cases the late stages are curtailed or cut off; but in any case, a Term appointed is reached, so that the higher purpose of Allah's Will and Plan may be fulfilled in each given case, that man "may learn wisdom".

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abdullah bin Masud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH), the truthful and the receiver of the truth informed us, saying, "The creation of you (humans) is gathered in the form of semen in the womb of your mother for forty days, then it becomes a clinging thing in similar (period), then it becomes a lump of flesh like that, then Allah sends an angel who breathes the life into it; and (the angel) is commanded to record four things about it: Its provision, its term of life (in this world), its conduct; and whether it will be happy or miserable. By the One besides Whom there is no true god! Verily, one of you would perform the actions of the dwellers of Jannah until there is only one cubit between him and it (Jannah), when what is foreordained would come to pass and he would perform the actions of the inmates of Hell until he enter it. And one of you would perform the actions of the inmates of Hell, until there is only one cubit between him and Hell. Then he would perform the acts of the dwellers of Jannah until he would enter it.''

[Muslim Book 33, Chapter 01, Hadith # 6930].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 67. Allah, it is Who has created you (Adam) from dust, then from a Nutfah" "This Hadith deals with the problem of fate in which Faith is essential. What it means is that Almighty Allah already knows about every person, whether he will be pious or impious, whether he will go to Jannah or Hell. He has already recorded all this. But it does not mean that man is absolutely helpless and is deprived of will and power, as is believed by some deviant sects who have gone astray. Fate is in fact a manifestation of the Knowledge of Allah and it has nothing to do with the will and intention of a person. Allah has not created man as a helpless creature, but has endowed him with the freedom of will and action, because in the absence of these two qualities, there would be no justification for his trial. He could only be put to test if he was granted not only the ability to choose between good and evil but also the freedom to act. For this purpose, Almighty Allah, has clearly indicated to man both the paths and granted him freedom to choose whichever he likes. He has also told him the ultimate end of each. The Noble Qur'an says: "Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful". {76}Surah Al-Insan [Man]: Ayat 3) "Then whosoever wills, let him believe; and whosoever wills, let him disbelieve". {18} Surah Al-Kahf [The Cave] : Ayat 29). But by mentioning this Hadith in the chapter relating to the fear of Allah, Imam An-Nawawi has warned that we should be fearful of Allah, pray for His Help, and an auspicious end of our life. He has advised us to adopt whatever means are available to us. In other words, we should make Faith and piety a way of life because one can find the means and resources according to one's capacity. Since nobody knows the result of his endeavors, one should leave it to Allah and rest assured that He Who has created him with a purpose will also create the ways and means to attain it. He who adopts piety, the ways to piety will open for him; and he who adopts evil, the ways to evil will open for him. A Muslim should never go towards evil at any stage of his life, lest his life comes to an end suddenly and he is deprived of the reward of all the good deeds he has done during his life and consequently he is consigned to Hell rather than Jannah. May Allah save us from a bad end and such actions which lead one to Hell.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 26 August 2015 (10 Ziqa'ad 1436)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]

Ayat 66. Say (O Muhammad  [SAWW](PBUH): "I have been forbidden to worship those whom you worship besides Allah, since there have come to me evidences from my Lord, and I am commanded to submit (in Islam) to the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists).

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) 66. Prophet SAWW was asked to tell pagans "I have been forbidden to invoke those whom ye invoke besides Allah, - seeing that the Clear Sings have come to me from my Lord; and I have been commanded to bow (in Islam) to the Lord of the Worlds." All objects of worship besides Allah are mere delusions. To anyone who sees this clearly, through Allah's Self-revelations, the only possible course is to give up everything else, which his own inner experience as well as outer Revelation tell him is false or of a temporary nature, and to bring his own will and actions into complete unison with Allah's Will: for that is the meaning of Islam, bowing to the Will of Allah. When we bow to the Real and Everlasting, we are automatically saved from falling victims to the False and Evanescent.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "My parable and that of yours is like a man who kindled a fire. When it has illuminated all around him, the moths and grasshoppers began to fall therein. He tried to push them away, but they overcame him and jumped into it. I am catching hold of your waists ties (to save you) from fire, but you slip away from my hands".

[Muslim Book 030, Chapter 06, Hadith # 5672].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mumin Ayat 66. "I have been forbidden to worship those whom you worship besides Allah," This Hadith mentions the extreme kindness which the Prophet [SAWW](PBUH) had for the welfare of his followers. It also mentions the misfortune of those who would become the fuel of Hell for not accepting Islam in spite of the utmost affection and ardor of the Prophet (PBUH) to bring them in the fold of Islam. People who fail to accept Islam would fall in the Hell-fire in the same way moths fall in the fire.
