Daily Qur'an & Hadith 24 Feb 2015 (04 Jamadi Al `Awwal 1436)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[36].Surah Yaseen [Yaseen]

Ayat 68. And he whom Allah grant long life, Allah reverse him in creation (weakness after strength like a little child). Will they not then understand?

Tafseer of Surah Yaseen, Ayat 68. If Allah grant long life to any, Allah cause him to be reversed in nature: Will they not then understand? This connects on with the last verse. Everything is possible with Allah. If you doubt how man can be transformed from his present nature, contemplate the transformations he already undergoes in his present nature at different ages. As a child, his powers of mind and body are still undeveloped. As he grows, they grow, and certain moral qualities, such as courage, daring, the will to conquer, unfold themselves. In extreme old age these are again obscured, and a second childhood supervenes. The back of the man who walked proudly straight and erect is now bent. If the transformations take place even in his present nature and constitution, how much easier was it for Allah to cast him in an immobile mould? But Allah granted him instead the high possibilities and responsibilities.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said,  "Hasten to do good deeds before you are overtaken by one of the seven afflictions.'' Then (giving a warning) he said, "Are you waiting for poverty which will make you unmindful of devotion, or prosperity which will make you corrupt, or a disease which will disable you, or (old age) senility which will make you mentally unstable, or sudden death which will take you all of a sudden, or Ad-Dajjal who is the worst expected, or the Hour; and the Hour will be most grievous and most bitter.''

[At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2306].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Yaseen Ayat 68. And he whom Allah grant long life, Allah reverse him in creation (weakness after strength like a little child)," The Hadith focuses on seven things which hold back man from the virtuous path. Taking in consideration the turning health and the brief span of life to his account, he is, therefore, apt to gather up good deeds for the Hereafter because an untoward situation may confront him any moment and render him unable to do good things to his benefit in the otherworldly life.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 23 Feb 2015 (03 Jamadi Al `Awwal 1436)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[36].Surah Yaseen [Yaseen]

Ayat 66. And if it had been Allah's Will, He would surely have wiped out (blinded) their eyes, so that they would struggle for the Path, how then would they see?

Ayat 67. And if it had been Allah's Will, He could have transformed them (into animals or lifeless objects) in their places. Then they should have been unable to go forward (move about) nor they could have turned back. [As it happened to Bani Israel see Verse 7:166 The Qur'an].

Tafseer of Surah Yaseen, Ayat 66 and 67. If it had been Allah's Will, We could surely have blotted out their eyes; then should they have run about groping for the Path, but how could they have seen? If it had been Our Will: i.e., if such had been the Will and Plan of Allah. If Allah had not intended to give man his limited free will, or power of choice, the case would have been different: there would have been no moral responsibility which could have been enforced. They could have had no sight or intelligence, and they could not have been blamed for not seeing or understanding. But such is not the case. Ayat 67. And if it had been Our Will, We could have transformed them (to remain) in their places; then should they have been unable to move about, nor could they have returned (after error). If Allah's Plan had been to grant no limited freedom of choice or will to men, He could have created them quite different, or could have transformed them into stationary creatures, either in physical form as in the case of trees, or in moral or spiritual qualities, where there was no possibility either of progress or deterioration. Man would then have been unable to reach the heights of grandeur which are now open to him, or, if he goes wrong, to return through the door of repentance and mercy, and still pursue his path of ascent. But it was Allah's Plan to give man all these privileges, and man must shoulder all the responsibilities that go with them.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Everyone will be raised in the condition in which he dies".

[Muslim Book 40, Chapter 19, Hadith # 6878]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Yaseen Ayat 66. And if it had been Allah's Will, He would surely have wiped out (blinded) their eyes," This Hadith signifies that if a person dies performing good deeds, he will have a good end; and the one who dies in misdeeds, he will come to a bad end. It is, therefore, necessary that one should always avoid disobedience of Divine injunctions, especially in old age and illness because one may fall in the clutches of death at any time.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 22 Feb 2015 (02 Jamadi Al `Awwal 1436)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[36].Surah Yaseen [Yaseen]

Ayat 65. This Day, Allah shall seal up their mouths, and their hands will speak to Allah, and their legs will bear witness to what they used to earn.

Tafseer of Surah Yaseen, Ayat 65. That Day shall Allah set a seal on their mouths. But their hands will speak, and their feet bear witness, to all that they did. The ungodly will now be dumbfounded. They will be unable to speak or offer any defense. (It is said that one's left thigh will be the first to bear the witness).  {The consequences of all acts, which follow according to Allah's Law, are, in Quranic language, attributed to Allah). But their silence will not matter. Their own hands and feet will speak against them. "Hands and feet" in this connection are symbolical of all the instruments for action which they were given in this life, including their faculties and opportunities. The same extended meaning is to be understood for "eyes" in the following verse. Cf. also 41:20-21, where eyes, ears, and skins are all mentioned as bearing witness against such as misused them.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) used to supplicate: "Allahumma inni A'udhu bika minal-ajzi wal-kasali, wal-jubni wal-harami, wal-bukhli, WA A'udhu bika min `adhabil-qabri, wa A'udhu bika min fitnatil-mahya wal-mamat [O Allah! I seek refuge in You from helplessness (to do good), indolence, cowardice, senility, and miserliness; and I seek Your Protection against the torment of the grave and the trials of life and death].'' Another narration adds: "wa dala`id-daini wa ghalabatir-rijal (And from the burden of indebtedness and the tyranny of men).''

[Muslim Book 35, Chapter 14, Hadith # 6536]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Yaseen Ayat 65. This Day, Allah shall seal up their mouths, and their hands will speak to Allah, This prayer is also very comprehensive. It is this mischief against which Allah's Protection has been sought through this prayer.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 21 Feb 2015 (01 Jamadi Al `Awwal 1436)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[36].Surah Yaseen [Yaseen]

Ayat 62. And indeed he (Satan) did lead astray a great multitude of you. Did you not, then, understand?

Ayat 63. This is Hell which you were promised!

Ayat 64. Burn therein this Day, for that you used to disbelieve.

Tafseer of Surah Yaseen, Ayat 62 to 64. "But he did lead astray a great multitude of you. Did ye not, then, understand? Fourthly, it is pointed out that they were given Understanding ( 'aql), so that by their own faculties they could have judged their own best interests, and yet they betrayed or misused those faculties, and deliberately threw away their chance! And not only a few, but so many! They went gregariously to ruin in spite of the individual care which their Lord and Cherisher bestowed on them! Ayat 63. "This is the Hell of which ye were (repeatedly) warned! Fifthly, the naked fact is now placed before them-the Hell-the state of damnation, which they could so easily have avoided! Ayat 64. "Embrace ye the (Fire) this Day, for that ye (persistently) rejected (Truth)." As they deliberately and persistently rejected all teaching, guidance, and warnings, they are now told to experience the Fire of Punishment, for it is but the consequence of their own acts.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said,  "The (Hell) Fire is surrounded with all kinds of desires and passions, while Jannah is surrounded with adversities.''

[Muslim Book 40, Chapter 01, Hadith # 6779].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Yaseen Ayat 62. And indeed he (Satan) did lead astray a great multitude of you. Did you not, then, understand? " The way to Hell is littered with these evils. When a person crosses them, it is an indication that he has entered into Hell. On the other side exists a series of grief's and calamities, Islamic injunctions and obligations (the compliance with which is often irksome for man) impede his way to Jannah. When a person endures them with patience he, in fact, overcomes those obstacles and becomes eligible for Jannah.

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 20 Feb 2015 (30 Rabi'us Sani 1436)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[36].Surah Yaseen [Yaseen]

Ayat 59. (It will be said): "And O you Al-Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, disbelievers in the Islamic Monotheism, wicked evil ones, etc.)! Get you apart this Day (from the believers).

Ayat 60. Did I not ordain for you, O Children of Adam, that you should not worship Shaitan (Satan). Verily, he is a plain enemy to you.

Ayat 61. And that you should worship Allah [Alone Islamic Monotheism, and set up not rivals, associate-gods with Allah]. That is a Straight Path.

Tafseer of Surah Yaseen, Ayat 59 to 61, "And O ye in sin! Get ye apart this Day! Notice how this finely balanced passage, after reaching the summit of sublimity in describing the state of the Blessed, in the word Salam, gradually takes us down to contemplate the state of the Sinners in a graduated descent. In the first place, it refers to their negative state, their state of isolation. From this Day of Judgment, they will no longer have the chance of being with the Blessed and perhaps of profiting spiritually by that proximity. The first feature of the Day of Judgment is that it is a Day of Separation-of sorting out. Each soul now finds its own true level, as the period of probation is over. Ayat 60. "Did I not enjoin on you, O ye Children of Adam, that ye should not worship Satan; for that he was to you an enemy avowed?- Secondly, there is a gentle reproach to the wrongdoers, more in sorrow than in anger. They are addressed as "children of Adam", to emphasize two facts, (1) that they have disgraced their ancestry, for Adam after his Fall repented and was forgiven, and the high Destiny of mankind has been the prize open to all his descendants, and (2) that Allah Most Merciful has throughout the ages continued to warn mankind against the snares laid by Satan, the avowed enemy of man; and that Allah's Grace was ever on the watch to help all to freedom from those snares. Ayat 61. "And that ye should worship Me, (for that) this was the Straight Way?  Thirdly, besides the negative warning, a positive Way was shown to them-the Straight Way, the Ways of those who receive Allah's Grace and attain to Bliss, the Rope which would save them from shipwreck, the Shield which would save them from assault, the key to the door of proximity to Allah.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) used to say: "Allahumm-aslih li diniyalladhi huwa `ismatu amri, wa aslih li dunyaya-llati fiha ma`ashi, wa aslih li akhirati-llati fiha ma`adi, waj`alil-hayata ziyadatan li fi kulli khair, waj`alil-mauta rahatan li min kulli sharrin (O Allah, make my religion easy for me by virtue of which my affairs are protected, set right for me my world where my life exists, make good for me my Hereafter which is my resort to which I have to return, and make my life prone to perform all types of good, and make death a comfort for me from every evil).''

[Muslim Book 35, Chapter 17, Hadith # 6565]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Yaseen Ayat 61. And that you should worship Allah [Alone Islamic Monotheism, and set up not rivals, associate-gods with Allah]. That is a Straight Path. This Hadith contain a very comprehensive prayer which simply means: "O Allah! Help me spend all my life in complete devotion to You, doing what You like and avoiding what You dislike as Allah knows what is best for us as Allah is Best of the planners.''

Daily Qur'an & Hadith 19 Feb 2015 (29 Rabi'us Sani 1436)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[36].Surah Yaseen [Yaseen]

Ayat 55. Verily, the dwellers of the Paradise, that Day, will be busy in joyful things.

Ayat 56. They and their wives will be in pleasant shade, reclining on thrones.

Ayat 57. They will have therein fruits (of all kinds) and all that they ask for.

Ayat 58. (It will be said to them): Salamun (peace be on you), a Word from the Lord (Allah), and Most Merciful.

Tafseer of Surah Yaseen, Ayat 55 to 58, Verily the Companions of the Garden shall that Day have joy in all that they do; We now have the symbolism for the indescribable Bliss of the Hereafter, in the four verses, 55-58. Notice the subtle gradation in the description. First, in this verse, we have the nature of the mise en scene and the nature of the joy therein. It will be a Garden i.e., everything agreeable to see and hear and feel and taste and smell; our bodily senses will have been transformed, but we can imagine something corresponding to them in our spiritual being: delightfully green lawns and meadows, trees and shrubs: the murmur of streams and the songs of birds: the delicate texture of flowers and leaves and the shapes of beauty in clouds and mist; the flavors of fruits; and the perfumes of flowers and scents. The joy in the Garden will be an active joy, without fatigue: whatever we do in it, every employment in which we engage there, will be a source of joy without alloy. 56. They and their associates will be in groves of (cool) shade, reclining on Thrones (of dignity); Secondly, the joy or happiness is figured to be, not solitary, but shared by associates like those whom we imagine in spiritual Love or Marriage; in whose fair faces "some ray divine reflected shines" (Jami): whose society is enjoyed in homes of happiness, situated in soothing shade, and furnished with thrones of dignity and peace. 57. (Every) fruit (enjoyment) will be there for them; they shall have whatever they call for; Thirdly, besides any external conditions of Bliss, the Bliss in the Hereafter has an inner quality, expressed by the word fakihatun. The root fakikah means 'to rejoice greatly', to be full of merriment'. The ordinary meaning of 'fruit' attached to fakihah is derived from the idea that the flavor of choice, ripe fruit, delights the heart of man. Just as akala (to eat) is used for 'enjoyment', (5:66, and 13:35), so fakihah, 'fruit', stands here for that especially choice enjoyment, which goes with a fastidious and well-cultivated taste. In other words, it suggests that highest kind of joy which depends upon the inner faculty rather than any outward circumstance. This is further emphasized by the second clause: "they shall have whatever they call for". Again using the language of this life, the musician's heaven will be full of music; the mathematician's will be full of mathematical symmetry and perfection; the artist's will be full of beauty of form, and so on. 58. "Peace!" - A Word (of salutation) from a Lord Most Merciful! Fourthly, we reach the highest grade of bliss, the mystic salutation "Peace!" from Allah Most Merciful. Cf. 10:10. The words sums up the attainment of the final Goal. For it explains the nature of the most High-He is not only a Lord and Cherisher, but a Lord Whose supreme glory is Mercy, Peace, and Harmony!

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Musa (Moses) (PBUH) asked his Rubb: `Who amongst the inhabitants of Jannah will be the lowest in rank?' He said: `It will be a person who will be admitted into Jannah last of all when all the dwellers of Jannah have entered Jannah. It will be said to him: Enter Jannah. But he will say: O my Rubb! How should I enter while the people have settled in their apartments and taken their shares? It will be said to him: Will you be satisfied and pleased if you have a kingdom like that of a monarch of the world? He will say: I will be content, my Rubb. Allah will say: For you is that, and like that and like that and like that and like that. He will say at the fifth time: I am well-pleased, my Rubb. Allah will say: It is for you and ten times more like it. You will have whatever your soul desires and whatever your eyes could delight in. He will say: I am well-pleased, my Rubb.' Musa (PBUH) said: `Who will be of the highest rank in Jannah.' Allah said: `They are those whom I chose and I established their honor with My Own Hand. I attest with My Seal that they will be blessed with such bounties as no eye has seen, no ear has heard and no human mind has perceived.''

[Muslim Book 01, Chapter 83, Hadith # 363]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Yaseen Ayat 55, the dwellers of the Paradise, that Day, will be busy in joyful things" This Hadith highlights Allah's unbounded Mercy and Bounty upon His obedient in Jannah although they do not deserve all that.
